History of the Association
It all began in the spirit of community and connection, when on the 8th of August 1946, a group of passionate locals gathered in Fairfield with a bold vision — to form a football association that would bring the game to Sydney’s south-west. With nothing more than ambition and a shared love for the sport, they laid the foundation for what would become the Southern Districts Soccer Football Association. By early 1947, after securing boundaries and rallying clubs from suburbs like Canley Vale, St John’s Park, Fairfield, and Chester Hill, the first official competition was locked in for April 12. What started as a grassroots initiative among neighbours quickly grew into a thriving football community — one that has continued to grow, inspire, and unite players for generations.
